"Made in NY" Marketing Credit

New York City’s “Made in NY” Marketing Credit program offers qualified film and television productions with free co-branded advertising opportunities in the #1 media market in the country. “Made in NY” productions are projects where at least 75% of the film was produced in New York City.

Media packages offered to qualified productions vary depending on the below-the-line budget:

TIER 1:
Below-the-line budget of $10M or more
Qualifies for: 

• Up to 40 bus shelters or 500 bus cards, determined by availability (4 week run)
• Up to 500 subway cards (4 week run)
• :30 PSA on NYC Channel in 13K+ cabs

Production covers the cost of printing bus shelters and subway cards
TIER 2:
Below-the-line budget between $5M - $10M
Qualifies for: 

• Up to 40 bus shelters or 500 bus cards, determined by availability (4 week run)
• Up to 500 subway cards (4 week run)
•:30 PSA on NYC Channel in 13K+ cabs

MOME covers the cost of printing bus shelters and subway cards
TIER 3:
Below-the-line budget of less than $5M
Qualifies for: 

• Up to 20 bus shelters or 250 bus cards, determined by availability (4 week run)
• Up to 250 subway cards (4 week run)
• :30 PSA on NYC Channel in 13K+ cabs

MOME covers the cost of printing bus shelters and subway cards

The credit is available on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE basis. Participants in this program are required to co-brand all creatives with the “Made in NY” logo. Participants in this program are also required to provide a donation to a cultural institution as identified by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs. The payment must be made 30 days after the completion of the campaign. For projects with below-the-line budgets of less than $10M, the donation will be equal to .1% of a production’s below-the-line spend. If a production’s below-the-line spend is over $10M, the donation is fixed at $10K.

The Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment ("MOME") is considering amending the "Made in NY" Marketing Credit Program Rules. The proposed amendments add or revise definitions to reflect program changes and current operating practices, and update definitions and clarify terms to ensure that program participants understand all program requirements. MOME will hold a public hearing, at which the public and interested parties are invited to submit comments and testimony on the proposed rule revisions, at 2:00PM on January 12, 2018.
