Awards for the 2019 Women's World Cup Victory Ticker Tape and Ceremony" special event coverage, and the lifestyle program "Her Big Idea"
NEW YORK - The Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment announced that NYC Life, the City of New York's broadcast network and media production group, received three awards at the 63rd Annual NY Emmy Awards show, which was livestreamed on Saturday, April 25.
NYC Life won two awards in the categories of "Special Event Coverage Other than News and Sports" and "Technical Achievement" for its coverage of the 2019 Women's World Cup Victory Ticker Tape Parade & Ceremony. This special programming celebrated the 2019 World Cup victory of the US. Women's soccer team, which included a ticker tape parade along NYC's the Canyon of Heroes to City Hall, where Mayor de Blasio honored the team in a "Key to the City" ceremony witnessed by thousands in attendance.
The weekly lifestyle program Her Big Idea received an award in the category of "Lifestyle Program: Program/Special" for Episode 2 in Season 3. Airing Mondays at 8:30pm, Her Big Idea features inspiring profiles of NYC women entrepreneurs who have transformed a simple idea into a thriving business. The winning episode features Esther Choi, founder of Mokbar; Alexa Hirschfeld, founder Paperless Post; and Lift Next Level Floats, founder of Gina Antioco.
"These Emmy wins confirm the excellence of NYC Media's service to our city," said Commissioner of the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, Anne del Castillo. "NYC Media keeps New Yorkers informed, entertained and enlightened in good times and bad."
NYC Life received a total of 12 nominations in categories including Entertainment, Environment, Historical/Cultural, Lifestyle, Promotion and Technical Achievement.
