July 13, 2015 - Media and Entertainment Commissioner Cynthia López recently visited the set of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, which has been filming on location in New York City for the past few months and spending $63 million in the City during its production. The commissioner joined executive producer Denis Stewart to watch as a scene was filmed on location in the West Side of Manhattan. Throughout the production, the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment has worked closely with the production to help it achieve its cinematic vision on the streets of New York.
At the Nuyorican Poets Café, Commissioner López visited the set of the film Spoken Word, meeting singer/actress Jill Scott as well as producer Paul Hall and director RZA as the production filmed on location in the Lower East Side.
Both productions are part of New York City’s thriving production industry, which employs 130,000 New Yorkers and contributes billions of dollars to the local economy.
