ASL Direct Instructions

Iphone:
For the best possible video quality, if you are using an IPHONE or IPAD you must be connect to Wi-Fi. Here at NYC.GOV/MOPD we provide a link that will directly connect you to ASL Direct.  All you have to do is click the ASL Direct icon.  After you have clicked the link for ASL Direct, you may see a message indicating “you are not on a call” Please hold while your device is trying to connect.  After your device is connected please allow camera access by clicking “Allow” as well as allowing your device to “recognize your current location “by clicking “OK”.  After you have successfully connected to ASL Direct you will be asked to “choose from the following options” In order to access the keypad to choose your option you must click the menu in the top corner and then click the “Show Keypad” option.   After you have chosen your option and you would like the key pad to be removed, click the menu in the top corner then click “Hide Keypad”.   In order to access the messaging component of ASL Direct you must press the menu located in the top corner and then choose the “Show Messaging” option.  After you have finished typing and would like to send your message, use the “T” button below the message box.   When you are finished using the messaging feature and would like remove the message screen click the menu button followed by “hide message”.  If you are still having issues with using your device please email. For the best possible video quality, if you are using a computer or laptop you must be connected to Wi-Fi. Here at NYC.GOV/MOPD we provide a link that will directly connect you to ASL Direct, all you have to do is click the ASL Direct icon. If you are interested in sending a message, click “Show Messaging” located on the side bar, after you have chosen “Show Messaging” you are now able to type and send a message by clicking the  “T” button below the message box.   After you have completed your message and would like to close the window, click “Hide Message” located on the side bar.  If you are still having issues with using your device please email.
