Women’s History Month: Annual Mentoring & Civic Leadership Reception

March 8, 2018

On International Women's Day, the Mayor and First Lady welcomed New York's leading female leaders to their annual Women's History Month Reception at Gracie Mansion. Each guest was invited to bring a mentee with them, creating the opportunity for leaders and future leaders to network and inspire.

This year's program featured remarks from Mayor Bill de Blasio, First Lady Chirlane McCray, Jacqueline Ebanks, Executive Director of the Commission on Gender Equity, Erica Frontiero, Managing Director, Carlyle Global Credit at The Carlyle Group, Sayu Bhojwani, Founder and President of New American Leaders, and Herminia Palacio, Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services. During the program, Mayor de Blasio highlighted, "We are called to create equal opportunity where it has not existed. We are called to ensure there is equal pay for equal work where it has not existed. We cannot be the greatest city in the world until we are the fairest."

The event highlighted how women can work together as mentors and partners to elevate their careers and continue to strive for equality.
