“We are doing better and better and it’s not in spite of immigrants, it’s because our immigrant brothers and sisters joined us and helped us to become even better together. That’s what we celebrate tonight. So I want to thank everybody for being a part of this wonderful noble experiment that is New York City, for being a beacon to our nation in our world, for showing people the way it can be done,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio to the Asian-Pacific American community at the Reception.
The program also included remarks by First Lady Chirlane McCray and honoree Jennifer Betit Yen.
We would like to acknowledge and thank our Community Engagement Partner of the Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month Reception without whom this event would not be possible:
We would like to acknowledge and thank our sponsor for its generous support of the Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month Reception:
Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have always been an integral part of our city's mosaic. Yesterday we honored their history, traditions and contributions at Gracie Mansion. We appreciate all that you do for our city. #APAHM pic.twitter.com/8iGoOJifwf— Chirlane McCray (@NYCFirstLady) May 10, 2019
