“We are the most prosperous, we’ve ever been. We are the most unified and it is not despite our immigrant brothers and sisters. It’s because of the contributions of our immigrant brothers and sisters,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said in appreciation of the immigrant community.
Mayor de Blasio welcome New York City’s immigrant community to celebrate Immigrant Heritage Week at Gracie Mansion. The evening was composed of remarks by Mayor de Blasio, Commissioner Bitta Mostofi, and honoree Jin Park with live entertainment by a traditional Tibetan band group from NY Tibetan Service Center.
Tonight we honored @JinNotJim, the first DACA recipient to become a Rhodes Scholar. New York City honors him not because of his achievements, but because of his defiance in the face of adversity and xenophobia. We’re proud to be the ultimate city of ALL immigrants. #IHW2019 pic.twitter.com/Ej6YFuwZ7g— NYC Mayor's Office (@NYCMayorsOffice) April 17, 2019
