NeON Inspires Featuring: Michael K. Williams and Dominic Dupont

This is a past event from January 7, 2019

On Monday, January 7 youth from across New York City will come together for NeON Inspires second event – a screening and discussion of Raised in the System, a documentary executive produced by Michael K. Williams. An Emmy award–winning actor, Williams is best known for his remarkable work on HBO’s The Wire and Boardwalk Empire. Raised in the System follows Williams as he embarks on a personal journey to expose the root of the American mass incarceration crisis: the juvenile justice system. Williams will be joined at the event by Dominic Dupont, who was convicted of murder at the age of 19. Since he was granted clemency, Dupont has shared his story in Raised in the System and with a variety of audiences and venues. The event will also feature poet, artist, and songwriter Mal Mero.

The invited audience will include young people from all seven neighborhoods in which the DOP’s Neighborhood Opportunity Networks (NeONs) operate—Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brownsville, East New York, Harlem, South Jamaica, Staten Island, and the South Bronx—as well as artists, mentors, and staff.
