Together with several community partners, the NYPD is undertaking a Department-wide initiative that is aimed at transforming policing in New York City. This joint effort among Commissioner Shea, Mayor de Blasio, and external advisors will respond to and extend beyond Governor Cuomo's New York State Police Reform and Reinvention Collaborative.
The community partners in this initiative are Arva Rice, President and CEO of the New York Urban League; Jennifer Jones Austin, CEO and Executive Director of the Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies; and Wes Moore, CEO of Robin Hood.
There are many ways to get involved in this process, including by taking our feedback survey or by watching recordings of the nine listening sessions held across all five boroughs below. The survey is available in English, Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, French, Korean, Polish, Russian, Spanish, and Urdu. If you wish to take the survey in Haitian Creole, you may download it here and email responses to NYPDReform@nypd.org. The Department is appreciative of your time and insights.
Additionally, in October, Mayor Bill de Blasio launched the next phase of this collaborative, which will include more opportunities to make your voice heard. If you wish to participate, please contact PolicingCollab@cityhall.nyc.gov
