Managing Stress and Self Care Resources

Stress can have a debilitating impact on your physical and mental health.   WorkWell NYC understands the need to have tools and resources that supports employees and their families through challenging times.   WorkWell NYC, in partnership with various City agencies, has coordinated a series of resources to provide wellness support, particularly in the areas of mental health awareness, stress management and substance misuse to employees and their families.

Employee Assistance Program
Robust and comprehensive mental health and substance misuse programs are available to City of New York employees, including free and confidential services through a network of Employee Assistance Programs. The NYC EAP provides services to the City of New York non-uniform Mayoral agencies, NYC Department of Corrections, New York City Housing Authority and NYC Health + Hospitals.  Employees who are not covered by the NYC EAP can receive services from either their agency or union EAP. Accessing these services is completely confidential and information will not be given to your employer or affect your job status.

Health Plans
All health plans offered through the City provide extensive mental health and substance misuse coverage for both outpatient and inpatient treatment with very modest copays.  All mental health benefits are provided at the same cost to the employee as the medical and hospital coverage in those plans.

The table below details that coverage for the plans that cover most City employees.
