Using Evidence and Innovation to Reduce Poverty and Inequality

May 18, 2017

Experts on poverty and inequality from government, non-profits, and academia came together May 16 at the Schomberg Center for Research in Black Culture in Harlem for a Mayoral Forum sponsored by NYC Opportunity on “Using Evidence and Innovation to Address Poverty and Inequality.” A highlight of the forum was a conversation between Mayor Bill de Blasio and Ford Foundation President Darren Walker, moderated by NYC Opportunity Executive Director Matt Klein. The Mayor said that the battle against inequality is “fighting for the soul of New York City.” Darren Walker said that “There is no greater threat to the American democracy than hopelessness.”
