Special Initiatives

The Mayor’s Office for Economic Opportunity (NYC Opportunity) supports a range of special initiatives that seek to build equity and opportunity for New Yorkers. In some cases these initiatives are housed at NYC Opportunity and directly led by our staff, such as the Social Innovation Fund supported Connections to Care program, and the Service Design Studio that helps City agencies apply human-centered design practices to their program development and delivery. In other cases, NYC Opportunity advances the work of partners in the Mayor’s Office, such as overseeing programs and budgets for the Young Men’s Initiative, working with the Children’s Cabinet to develop a children’s budget for the City and manage the Growing Up NYC digital product, or collaborating with City agencies and nonprofits on the Children’s Savings Accounts program, among other projects.
