The Equitable Development Data explorer is just one of New York City’s ongoing efforts to equip New Yorkers with data about their city and promote equitable housing and opportunity. The City also has many resources for New Yorkers to get, afford, and keep housing.

Housing and Displacement

  • Where We Live NYC: The City’s fair housing plan identifies goals, strategies, and actions to advance fair housing through 2025.
  • Mayor’s Office to Protect Tenants: The Department of Housing Preservation and Development and other city agencies provide a robust set of resources for tenants facing harassment, displacement, or eviction.
  • NYC Housing Resource Portal: Browse the City’s many resources to help New Yorkers get, afford, and keep housing.

Data Tools and Resources

  • Population FactFinder: To continue exploring data about NYC and its neighborhoods, Population FactFinder allows you to examine how the latest demographic, social, economic, and housing characteristics have changed over time. Create custom “study areas” to see data for the areas you’re interested in.
  • Fair Housing Data and Analysis: NYC Planning analysis of housing, demographic, and other data in support of the City’s fair housing strategies.

Racial Equity

  • EquityNYC: Explore the economic, social, environmental, and physical health of New York City across race/ethnicity, gender, location, and income. EquityNYC supports city agencies in conducting equity assessments and equity action plans.
  • Racial Justice Commission: Formed by Mayor Bill de Blasio in March 2021, the Racial Justice Commission is examining the City’s foundations to identify structures and systems that enable inequitable power, access, and opportunity. Read the Commission’s Final Report here.
