Long Island City Core Neighborhood Planning Study

Long Island City Core Neighborhood Planning

January 31, 2017 Public Meeting

The first public meeting was held Tuesday, January 31, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:30 pm at CUNY Law School in Court Square.  The event provided an opportunity for the approximately 100 attendees to learn about the study and share feedback about their concerns and goals.

The meeting opened with an open-house style display of informational maps showing the study area’s proposed boundary and context area, land uses, and critical topics the study will address, such as the existing transportation network, public open space, and schools.  Next was a presentation of the proposed study, followed by a Q & A.

Representatives from the city’s departments of Housing Preservation and Development, Transportation, Small Business Services and the state’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority also attended the event to listen to the conversation.
