The New York City Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP)

Thank you for your interest in the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and out of concern for the health and safety of all New Yorkers, the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development will not operate SYEP this summer. For more information about Department of Probation Neighborhood Opportunity Network (NeON) summer programming, please visit nyc.gov/NeONSummer.

SYEP

The New York City Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) provides youth between the ages 14 – 24 with paid summer employment for up to six weeks in July and August. This is a great opportunity for young adults to capitalize on their strengths, develop skills and competencies necessary to thrive in today’s job market.

Why join SYEP?

Participating in SYEP is about having a fruitful and engaging summer. For six weeks SYEP participants develop work readiness skills, gain skill competencies and explore career paths, and become financially literate- all of which can point to a better future. Participants work in sectors such as childcare, health services and offices within public, private and government agencies. SYEP participants are actively involved in learning day-to-day skills of entry level work including tutoring, supporting classrooms activities and general administrative duties.

Who can join?

To be eligible, candidates must be:

  • 14-24 years old and reside in NYC
  • Authorized to work in the US
  • Under the supervision of NYC Department of Probation

If you or someone you know meets the requirements, contact us about applying for SYEP.
