Digital Skills Training at Queens Library

The Queens Library offers a wide range of digital skills training programs in the Queensbridge community, and throughout the borough. Take free classes on how to use a computer, how to apply for jobs online, how to protect yourself while using the internet, and even how-to code, or use a 3D printer, and more!

Borrow a Tablet

The Queens Library lends Google tablets to library card holders for free. Visitors can borrow a tablets for one month, with three renewals possible (four months total). First-time borrowers must bring a photo ID and sign a borrower’s agreement. Children under 17 may borrow with a parent or guardian’s consent.

Free Computer Classes for Seniors

Since 2004 Senior Planet has successfully trained 35,000 older adults through its free computer courses. It is a project of Older Adults Technology Services, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping older adults, whose mission is to "harness technology to change the way we age.

To support Queensbridge seniors in using the Queensbridge Connected internet service, the City is providing free digital literacy classes for seniors at the Jacob Riis Settlement House in partnership with the Department for the Aging and Older Adults Technology Services.

Computer Lab on Wheels

Use a computer for free through NYCHA Digital Vans. Residents can get online and connect to educational and career opportunities, polish resumes, and much more. The Digital Vans have eight laptops, a printer/scanner, wireless internet and an instructor. Read about how a Bronx resident earned her degree with the help of Digital Vans.

Privacy, Identity and Online Security

In 2018, the City launched an initiative, NYC Digital Safety:  Privacy and Security, to ensure at least one staff member at every library branch across New York City has been trained to answer patrons’ questions about online privacy and security.  Visit your local library to ask questions, and get informed!
