This section contains everything you need to apply, renew, and learn about the NYC Rent Freeze Program. 

Note: As a result of the recent settlement of federal class action case Pfeffer et al. v. New York City Department of Finance et al., renters who were unable to appeal or renew their Senior Citizen or Disability Rent Increase Exemption (SCRIE or DRIE) after December 1, 2011, because they needed more time to file due to a disability or physical or mental impairment are now eligible to have their benefits restored or reduced to the prior frozen rent if they are back in the Rent Freeze Program.
