City Council Hate Violence Prevention Initiative

City Council Hate Violence Prevention Initiative

In early 2019, the New York City Council approved more than $1 million in discretionary funding for the Hate Violence Prevention Initiative, a coalition of diverse community organizations designated by the Council, to improve education and services in the City.

The Mayor's Office for Criminal Justice and the Office for the Prevention of Hate Crimes are overseeing the contracts that the City Council allocated to 15 groups, and is partnering with them to support and elevate their important grassroots work to serve the communities that are the most vulnerable to bias-motivated incidents and hate crimes.
