Human-induced climate change is reshaping the world at an uprecedented rate. We can and must reverse the worst effects. As the country's largest city and financial capital, New York City has been leading climate action for more than a decade. We were the first big city to put together a comprehensive climate plan, and the first US city to align our goals with the Paris Agreement.
Creating the world's greenest big city and the world's fairest big city go hand-in-hand. As we work to dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions, we are also reimagining and retrofitting our city to ensure that each one of our 8.6 million residents benefits from better jobs, cleaner air, and opportunities to thrive.
I am both humbled and excited to serve as the Director of the Mayor's Office of Sustainability as New York City continues to make thoughtful strides towards a better tomorrow for our city and our planet.
