Can I renew my TLC driver’s license online?

How often do I need to renew my Defensive Driving Course?

Information regarding your Defensive Driving Course is available in Defensive Drivers Course Requirements (PDF).

If I am not granted a license, will I get a refund?

No. All Fees are Non-Refundable.

My TLC license was mailed but I have not received it. What do I do?

  • To get a replacement, you will need to wait 10 days from the date your license was mailed out. After 10 days, you will need to visit our LIC facility located at:

    to submit a completed and signed Affirmation to Request a Replacement Credential (PDF) and all required documents listed on TLC Driver License Not Received in the Mail Instruction Sheet (PDF).

  • If during the 10 day period the license you are currently using expires or is due to expire, you can visit our LIC facility (LIC-facility) to receive an extension sticker to allow you to continue to work until your newly approved license is received in the mail or until you submit the Affirmation Form after the 10 day period.

  • An extension sticker is only given if your license has already been approved, updated and mailed out.

    What do I need to know about the interim (anniversary) Drug Test and Renewing Drug Test?

    Interim (anniversary) Drug Test: Each year you must take and pass the drug test within ninety (90) days before the yearly anniversary of the date your license was issued. .

    Renewal Drug Test: Before renewing your license, you must take and pass the drug test within ninety (90) days before the expiration date on your license.

    How do I let the TLC know that I recently moved?

    Update your Information Online on LARS.

    What do I need to do to have my TLC license replaced if it is lost or stolen or mutilated/damaged?

    To get a replacement TLC credential complete the affirmation to Request a Replacement Credential (PDF) and view the TLC Credential Replacement Instruction Sheet (PDF)

    Once completed visit our LIC office with the required payment to submit your request for a replacement.

    How can I update my license photo, or change my name on my TLC license?

    1. Read the TLC Credential Replacement Instruction Handout (PDF).
    2. You will need a completed and signed Request to Update TLC Credential Form (PDF).

    What do I need to do if I no longer wish to be a TLC Licensed Driver?

    To request to cancel your TLC Driver license, submit the current license and a signed Affirmation to Cancel Active TLC Driver License (PDF) in person or by mail to:

    Requesting to cancel a TLC Driver License does not remove outstanding suspensions and/or summonses. If you wish to reapply in the future, outstanding suspensions and/or summonses must be closed before you reapply.

    Can I plead guilty to and pay the fine amount on a summons or pay a summons amount due online?
