Effective immediately the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission will allow For-Hire Vehicle Owners to place their TLC Vehicle License “on-hold” for a period of no more than one hundred eighty (180) days. The license will be placed on hold through a “storage” process that is outlined below.

How to put your TLC For-Hire Vehicle (FHV) license in storage
Scan and email the TLC FHV storage form to: FHVStorage@tlc.nyc.gov. Please do not come to the TLC Long Island City Facility to submit documents. Only emailed documents will be accepted.
The vehicle’s license status will no longer be active, and the status will be changed to “in storage.” The vehicle cannot be operated for hire while the vehicle license is in storage. After one hundred eighty (180) days, you will be notified to remove the vehicle license from storage, or the license will be closed.
