Pedro Zapata is team DVS' CE5's Senior Project Manager. In this role, Pedro will be leading up CE5 related projects and initiatives, assisting to track CE5 constituent data, and working to provide analytical support to CE5 working with his peers in all our lines of action. Pedro came to DVS from NYCHA, where he served as the East Harlem Zone Coordinator. In that role, Pedro served as the liaison between NYCHA frontline staff, NYCHA Resident Leadership, and Community Stakeholders to increase economic opportunities and resources for residents to achieve self-sufficiency. Prior to his role with NYCHA, Pedro served as the Student Activities Coordinator for Stony Brook, where he managed events coordination, logistical planning, and student mentoring.Pedro earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with a minor in both History and Latin American & Caribbean Studies at Stony Brook University. He later earned a Master of Arts in Public Policy with a concentration in Policy Analysis and Regional Planning also at Stony Brook University. Currently residing of Brooklyn, Pedro experienced a multi-faceted upbringing that fostered a solid appreciation of community development and public service. Born in Panama City, Panama and raised in a military family where his grandfather, father, and sister served in the U.S Military, Pedro has a special appreciation for the sacrifices made by veterans and members of the military.
