Mosquito Information

Some mosquitoes may breed year-round but mosquitoes that breed during colder months do not carry West Nile virus. Mosquitoes in some areas of the City pose a risk during the summer months when they can carry West Nile virus.  During West Nile virus Season, April 1 - October 31, the City monitors mosquito populations and conducts activities to eliminate the presence or spread of the virus and you can report standing water outside where mosquitoes can breed.

Colder weather mosquitoes live mainly in sewers, wet or damp cellars or in blocked drains.  If you have mosquitoes in your home, there are steps you can take to eliminate them from your home and prevent them from re-entering.
