Day After Thanksgiving Information

Friday, November 27, the day after Thanksgiving, is not an official holiday.

Public schools are closed.

Government offices, including the Department of Motor Vehicles and libraries, are open. New York City and State courts are also open. Mail delivery follows a regular schedule.

Alternate Side Parking regulations and meters are in effect.

Garbage, recycling, and organics pick-up follows a regular schedule. Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, complaints about missed garbage, organics, and recycling pickup are not accepted for that day.

If you have Thursday garbage or organics pick-up, you can leave your trash out until it is picked up.

If you have Thursday recycling pick-up, your recyclables will not be picked up until next week. If you put your recyclables out, bring them back onto your property.

The Staten Island Ferry follows a normal weekday schedule.
