Sodium Warning Rules for Chain Food Service Establishments

As of December 1, 2015, the City requires chain food service establishments and mobile food vendors with 15 or more locations nationwide to post a sodium warning icon next to menu items that contain 2,300 milligrams of sodium or more. They must also post a sodium warning statement everywhere customers place their orders.

The icon must be shown on all menu boards and menus, on food items displayed for sale with a food item tag, and on menu boards at or before a drive-through window.

The City began issuing notices of violations for non-compliance of this rule on June 6, 2016.
