The Department of Sanitation (DSNY) works with primary and support permitting agencies to effectively manage events in New York City. While DSNY does not issue permits, they are a vital part of event coordination. If you are hosting an event, you can choose to hire a private cleaning company or a private carter service. These companies can also contract DSNY to clean up. If the event producer fails to clean up after their event, DSNY takes responsibility for billing producers for personnel and equipment that will be necessary for the cleanup.
