DHS ADMINISTRATOR CARTER PARTICIPATES IN RIBBON CUTTING AND DEDICATION CEREMONY FOR NEW COMPUTER LAB AT CAMBA’S FLAGSTONE FAMILY CENTER
Dedicated lab will help bridge the digital divide for over 150 families
NEW YORK—On Tuesday, September 12, NYC Department of Homeless Services Administrator Joslyn Carter will participate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a brand new computer lab at not-for-profit service provider CAMBA’s Flagstone Family Center in Brownsville, which serves and supports 150 homeless families with children as they stabilize their lives and work to achieve housing permanency. The computer lab is sponsored by the Rogosin Institute, a leading kidney disease diagnosis and management center located in Manhattan.
The lab will help young people and their families experiencing homelessness build critical computer skills, bridging the digital divide by increasing clients’ access to opportunity. For example, with the addition of this computer lab, staff on-site will be able to more effectively assist clients with apartment applications, career training, and employment preparation by helping individuals search for housing, apply for jobs, prepare resumes, and practice for interviews.
Administrator Carter and CAMBA CEO Joanne M. Oplustil will deliver remarks to celebrate the opening of the lab.
Media interested in attending should RSVP with Arianna Fishman at fishmana@hra.nyc.gov.
