NYC Ladders for Leaders

Audio Description: Watch as the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development's Ladders for Leaders Program is explained. This is a nationally recognized internship program providing high achieving students with paid, professional internship opportunities with leading corporations, government agencies and non-profit organizations.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Ladders for Leaders program and the largest program year with over 1,500 young adults taking part in professional internships across the City in a variety of industries and disciplines. With your help, we are furthering our mission to expand the number of opportunities for the City's youth.

NYC Ladders for Leaders helps introduce high-achieving and motivated young people to the world of work, while also providing the tools and skills they need to become successful young professionals. In addition to valuable work experiences, Ladders participants receive work readiness training and take part in workshops on topics such as leadership and career/industry exploration.

The 2016 SONYC Film Festival and competition celebrated the youth participants on Saturday, June 18. SONYC participants from across the City created film shorts about New York City from their perspective. Through the lens of the youth, we see the impact of quality activities in afterschool programming. The festival was attended by the SONYC filmmakers who received acknowledgement of their hard work by 500 of their peers and loved ones.
