Acting Fire Commissioner Kavanagh to Preside Over Promotion Ceremony for Fire and EMS Officers

Acting Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh will preside over a ceremony promoting 104 Fire and EMS Officers on Friday, May 20, 2022 at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex, 625 Father Capodanno Boulevard, Staten Island. 4 EMS Deputy Chiefs will be promoted to EMS Division Chief, 5 Captains will be promoted to EMS Deputy Chief, 30 Fire Lieutenants will be promoted to the rank of Captain, 60 Firefighters will be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, and 5 EMS Lieutenants will be promoted to Captain. The ceremony can be viewed live on the Department’s website, www.nyc.gov/FDNY

“This new group of Chiefs, Captains and Lieutenants possess decades of experience, responding to thousands of fires and medical emergencies. They have repeatedly demonstrated their commitment to serving those in need, with no shortage of heroic acts throughout their careers,” said Acting Commissioner Kavanagh. “They are leaders, and their new roles will allow them to lead and teach our Firefighters, EMTs and Paramedics, as they work towards the same goal – saving lives and making our city safer.”

These newly promoted members will be assigned to units throughout New York City.
