To address the most urgent climate threats in the study area, the City is acting now to protect the lowest lying and most vulnerable portion of the study area. This project will raise the esplanade approximately three to five feet to defend against tidal flooding and coastal storms, and include drainage improvements to protect against extreme precipitation. The project will also help improve waterfront access with pedestrian and cyclist enhancements and improve waterfront . The City is seeking federal funding from additional sources, including the federal government, to complement the City’s commitment.
