ABOUT HEYA
We encourage self development, creativity and choice.  The High Expectation Youth Academy (HEYA) is a project of the Neighborhood Opportunity Network (NeON) and NYC Service designed to prepare you to tap into your inner potential to achieve your highest levels of achievement. You will work alongside NeON Stakeholders to develop a project that builds your capacity as a leader, and helps your community.

  • Ten 90-minute virtual workshops that meet on Tuesday at 4:30.
  • $500 stipend
  • Workshops begin February 15, 2022.
  • Workshops will be facilitated by Dr. Alfonso Wyatt. All students will receive a copy of Beware The Mind Hustler.

As a part of HEYA you will join a project design team, and be given a budget and project management support to solve a problem in one of the following categories: COVID-19 Relief, Environment, Public Safety or Unmet Human Need. Project Management Assistance provided by Anita Pierce.

To JOIN:

  1. You are between 16-24 yrs.
  2. Live in East New York, Bed Stuy, Brownsville, Harlem, Jamaica, Northern Staten Island or the South Bronx
  3. Complete and submit an application
  4. Submit 1 reference (listed on the application)
  5. Fill out and submit the proper Consent and Release Form for Photography Interviewing and Recording form
