OCME works to increase public understanding of the forensic sciences and to encourage the next generation of leaders in the field. The agency reaches students, communities and professionals through classroom lectures, career days, conferences, and related events.

Please note, OCME does not offer tours of its facilities to the general public. If you would like an OCME expert to visit your location for a talk, you may request an expert speaker.

OCME offers year-round internships across many of its departments. If you would like to be considered for an opportunity, please make an internship inquiry. Interns must be at least 18 years of age, and other qualifications may apply, depending on the position.

OCME also hosts a Missing Persons Day event every 24 months. This event helps support the families and friends of missing persons in their ongoing efforts to locate and identify their loved ones. This program has led to eight identifications of missing persons in New York City, Long Island, New Jersey, and Texas since its launch in 2014. The 2019 event info can be found here.
