DOF Launches New Application Status Lookup for Property Tax Benefit Applications

New Application Status Tool Allows Homeowner Property Tax Benefit Applicants to Look up the Current State of Their Submitted Applications Online

New York, NY—New York City Department of Finance Commissioner Preston Niblack today announced a new application status tool that will allow property owners to check the status of property tax benefit applications they submitted. The application status lookup is available at www.nyc.gov/exemptionstatus.

“The Department of Finance is excited to introduce our new application status tool. This online resource offers customers quick and convenient access to essential details on their homeowner property tax benefit applications,” said DOF Commissioner Preston Niblack. “This is just one of the many ways DOF is continually working to enhance customer service and better serve the public.”

In addition to looking up their application status, homeowners will be able to request more information from DOF when their applications are incomplete. This tool will also allow an appointed representative or interested third party to retrieve basic information about the application status on the homeowner’s behalf.

Exemptions that can be looked up include:

  • STAR (School Tax Relief)
  • Enhanced STAR
  • Senior Citizen Homeowners' Exemption (SCHE)
  • Disabled Homeowners' Exemption (DHE)
  • Veterans exemptions
  • Clergy exemption

Homeowners will need a NYC.ID account to use the lookup tool. If you do not have an account, you can create one for free.

Today's announcement is just the latest effort in the ongoing modernization of DOF. Other recent updates include the launch of DOF’s redesigned website; the launch of online payment plans for outstanding parking ticket judgment debt; the rollout of the new Property Information Portal, allowing New Yorkers to find information about their property online in an easy to use one-stop shop; the expansion of the Tenant Access Portal (NYC TAP), offering a convenient way for tenants and their representatives to request and renew Rent Freeze benefits online, and more.
