Ornela Beshiri was born in Albania and migrated to the United States with her family at a young age, settling in the Pelham Parkway area. Since then, she has cultivated strong ties to the community. Over the years, she has volunteered her time for various projects and events such as food pantries, graffiti removal, fundraising and voter outreach and education. She strongly believes that in order to bring desired change, one must act.

At Hunter College, Ornela majored in political science, Spanish and French. She completed her Master of Arts in business and development at the Institute of Development Studies in East Sussex, England.
