NOTICE OF ADOPTION OF EMERGENCY RULES FOR RECEIVING A CONCEALED CARRY HANDGUN LICENSE AND RESUBMITTING CERTAIN RECENTLY DENIED APPLICATIONS

The NYPD announces an amendment to the emergency rule issued on August 23, 2022. The amendment provides further guidance to gun license applicants in light of the Supreme Court decision in N.Y. State Rifle & Pistol Ass’n v. Bruen, 142 S. Ct. 2111 (2022) and recent statewide legislation governing gun licensing. The amendment clarifies training requirements for individuals with pending applications and those whose applications had previously been downgraded or rejected solely because the applicant lacked proper cause.
