DURING NYC SMALL BUSINESS MONTH, CITY AND MASTERCARD ANNOUNCE EXPANSION OF PARTNERSHIP TO HELP SMALL BUSINESSES SHORE UP DIGITAL RESILIENCY

No-Cost ‘Digital Doors’ Webinars Opened to Help Small Businesses Protect Themselves from Cyber Threats

NEW YORK – The NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS), and Mastercard today announced the expansion of the “Digital Doors” initiative to raise awareness of cybersecurity protection for small businesses and steps they can take to protect their digital content from cyber-attacks. As part of the expanded partnership, Mastercard will make available free webinars to educate small businesses on cybersecurity threats and best practices to thrive online.

Mastercard’s Digital Doors program also provides New York City small businesses with a comprehensive set of tools and educational resources to build their digital presence by expanding their e-commerce capacity, set up digital payments, and digitally evolve their business to succeed in the 21st century economy. These resources are available to new businesses that are learning about cybersecurity and businesses looking to expand their knowledge.

The online cybersecurity curriculum will be delivered through SBS’ NYC Business Solutions Centers, free to participating small businesses. Anyone interested in attending “How to Prevent Cyber Attacks" can RSVP to either session:

May 15, 3 - 5 p.m.

May 25, 1 - 3 p.m.

"SBS is looking forward to an expanded collaboration with Mastercard as we continue supporting small businesses during New York City’s economic recovery. E-commerce was a lifeline for many small businesses during the height of the pandemic. As this recovery picks up, we are excited to open new doors for entrepreneurs to leverage digital tools to launch, grow, and increase their online presence,” said Kevin D. Kim, Commissioner NYC Department of Small Business Services.

“The last few years have proven how tough New Yorkers are and demonstrated that New York small business owners are even more resilient. This week, Mastercard is proud to launch our next-generation Digital Doors platform and partner with New York City to empower these small business owners, ensuring they have the tools they need to go digital and sustain long-term success. Through these types of innovative partnerships, we’re putting the digital economy to work for everyone, everywhere,” said Ginger Siegel, North America Small Business Lead at Mastercard.
