    Applicants must submit a current color passport-size photograph of themselves. Note: Applicants can be photographed at the DCWP Licensing Center at no cost or upload their photo online.

      If the license application will be filed by someone other than the applicant, complete the Granting Authority to Act Affirmation.

        Tow Truck Driver applicants must schedule an appointment with IdentoGO to be fingerprinted. More info

          Visit uenroll.identogo.com. Enter Service Code and Agency ID. Service Code is 1585N7. Agency ID is the numbers only from Application Number. Application Number is on your receipt or confirmation letter when you apply online. Example: For Application Number 1234567-2023-AHIC, enter only 12345672023 as Agency ID. Follow the instructions and pay the required fee(s).

          • $20: License Fee for applicants who file for a new Tow Truck Driver License from November 1 of years that end in an even number to April 30 of years that end in an odd number.
          • $15: License Fee for applicants who file for a new Tow Truck Driver License from May 1 of years that end in an odd number to October 31 of years that end in an odd number.
          • $10: License Fee for applicants who file for a new Tow Truck Driver License from November 1 of years that end in an odd number to April 30 of years that end in an even number.
          • $5: License Fee for applicants who file for Tow Truck Driver License from May 1 of years that end in an even number to October 31 of years that end in an even number.
          • Fingerprint Processing Fee. 
          • Non-Refundable Convenience Fee for paying with a credit card.

        Submit a copy of applicant's current driver's license. Note: Applicant must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid New York State driver’s license with the appropriate “W” endorsement (Tow Truck Operator endorsement). If applicant is a resident of another state, applicant must possess a valid and current out-of-state driver’s license that is equivalent to a driver’s license that allows someone to drive a tow truck in New York State.

          If applicant is not a resident of New York State and possesses a valid driver's license from another state, applicant must submit a Certified Abstract of applicant's driving record issued within the last 30 days from the State Department of Motor Vehicles. More info

             The license must be valid and in full force and effect.

          Steps to apply online:

          Review the requirements for the license and gather all materials before clicking the Apply Online button. Note: You will be redirected to a new web page where you will need a registered account with the City of New York to submit an online application.

            After submitting an application online, print a copy of the Confirmation Page. The Confirmation Page will list the additional steps and materials required to complete the application. These materials are also listed above and must be submitted within five business days of filing the application online if they were not uploaded as part of the online application submission.
