Permit Types

The Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO) issue permits for Street Festivals, Plaza Events, Production Events, Block Parties, Farmers Markets, Press Conferences, Health Fairs and other events on the City's streets, sidewalks and Pedestrian Plazas. Text: Block Parties

A community sponsored event with no sale of goods or services requiring the closure of a single block for a single day. Applications must be submitted 60 days in advance.

Text: Clean Ups

A limited, 4-hour street closure event held for the purpose of neighborhood improvement or beautification. Applications must be submitted 60 days in advance.

Text: Farmers' Markets

A nonprofit sponsored open air market on a sidewalk for the sale of local farm fresh products. Applications must be submitted 60 days in advance.

Text: Health Fairs

A community event where health vendors provide in-kind services with one block closure for one day. Applications must be submitted 30 days in advance.

Text: Mobile Units

The staging of one or more vehicles for religious purposes while serving a benefit to the community. Applications must be submitted 60 days in advance.

Text: Open Culture

An art or cultural institution-sponsored event including, but not limited to cultural performances, rehearsals, and classes. An open culture event must be free, open to the public and offer free services or information to the community. Applications must be submitted 15 days in advance.

Text: Plaza Events

An activity held within a pedestrian plaza that interferes or obstructs regular use of plazas. Application deadlines vary by each plaza level.

Text: Press Conferences

A public convening for media and press held on street or pedestrian plaza with minimal impact on the area for one day. Applications must be submitted 10 days in advance.

Text: Production Events

Activities without branding that occur on a sidewalk or curb lane. The activities may include pick-up or drop-off and set up or break down of events with no impact for pedestrians or vehicles. Applications must be submitted 10 days in advance.

A public convening held on street or pedestrian plaza with minimal impact on the area for one day. Applications must be submitted 10 days in advance.

Text: Religious Events

An act of public worship serving a benefit to the community for a single day. Applications must be submitted 60 days in advance.

Text: Single Block Festivals

Nonprofit sponsored community festival with vendors requires closing one block for one day. Applications must be submitted 90 days in advance.

An activity held on a public street, curb lane or sidewalk that interferes or obstructs the locations uses by pedestrians or vehicles. Event size determines its application deadline

Nonprofit sponsored festival with vendors requiring closing one block or more for multiple days. Applications must be submitted no later than December 31st of the preceding year.
