Connect, Care, Create: Healing Collective Trauma through Art

December 10, 2020

About This Year's Event

The Mayor's Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence (ENDGBV) is hosting its third annual art exhibit titled "Connect, Care, Create: Healing Collective Trauma through Art." This digital exhibit will take place during the City's annual observance of the global campaign, 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) which seeks to raise awareness and inspire action at the community level.

For this year, our goal is to expand our exhibit to explore the process of healing from interpersonal and structural forms of violence, particularly as we endure the COVID-19 and racial injustice pandemics. Our platform serves to support diverse groups of artists who create works on gender-based violence and its impact on individuals, families and communities, and now also including this year's major life shifts that have created ripples of impact on our communities.

During Connect. Care. Create. Exhibit, a few of our featured artists activated online with attendees throughout several rooms representing different art forms, different processes of healing. This is the end result.

You Are Not Alone

You Are Not Alone

It may not always be clear when a situation crosses from healthy to unhealthy, or to something that may be considered abuse. But there is hope. Reach out to NYC HOPE to find ways to receive support.

You Are Not Alone

You Have a Community

During this difficult time it's imperative we connect more than ever. Finding ways, reaching out and just talking about it may sound overwhelming but through art as a healing tool, you can begin sharing your story. Escape Artists
