Special Investigations

The ACS Office of Special Investigations (OSI) investigates suspected child abuse/neglect reports involving:

  • Children in foster care
  • Teen parents in foster care
  • Foster parents
  • Child care employees
  • ACS employees

During the investigation, OSI staff will speak with children, parents, foster parents and other people who may have information about the investigation, such as foster care agency staff, child care staff, teachers, doctors and neighbors.

What happens after the investigation is finished?

At the conclusion of an investigation, OSI may require that organizations complete corrective actions to promote the safety and well-being of children

If an individual receives a determination letter listing that one or more allegations are substantiated against them, they have the right to request the determination be amended if it is believed the information in the report is inaccurate.

To request an amendment, send a letter with the following information:

  • Full name of individual and the children listed in the report
  • Home address of the children and the parent or foster parent or/ Address of the day care facility/home
  • Case ID and the Intake Stage ID to:
