About the Office of the Actuary

The mission of the New York City Office of the Actuary (NYCOA) is to provide independent actuarial services and information to the City and other entities to safeguard the statutory benefits of the members and beneficiaries of the New York City Retirement Systems and Pension Funds.

Comprised of a staff of experienced practitioners in actuarial science who apply analytical skills to manage risk, the NYCOA ensures that the City of New York delivers on its pension commitments to the City’s public servants who have served this City and its citizens. The office’s independence results in accountability in the management and preservation of these vital benefits.
