NYC DOT Announces Pothole Repair Efforts Across All Five Boroughs This Weekend

In an effort to curtail potholes that have developed as a result of fluctuating temperatures and winter precipitation, the agency will dispatch 65 crews this Saturday to make repairs on residential streets, commercial corridors, and highways

DOT has already filled more than 81,500 potholes this year

New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) Commissioner Henry Gutman announces the agency’s second seasonal pothole blitz this year. From 7 A.M. to 7 P.M. on Saturday, April 24, 2021, DOT will dispatch crews throughout all five boroughs directing efforts along residential streets, commercial corridors, and arterial roadways – continuing to bring city streets to a state of good repair.

In 2015, Mayor de Blasio made a historic $1.6 billion commitment to resurface New York City streets over a ten-year period. The Administration's continued investment in resurfacing in recent years has resulted in an overall decline in potholes, making the streets safer and less bumpy for all roadway users. The City is gradually reopening and as a part of DOT’s recovery efforts, it is essential that city streets maintain a state of good repair. This year DOT has filled over 81,500 potholes thus far. Under the de Blasio Administration, DOT resurfaced a total of 8,356 lane miles and filled more than 2 million potholes. The average response time to potholes is currently at 3.83 days.

Pothole season generally runs from December through June and DOT pothole crews are dispatched daily. For information about DOT’s ongoing work to address potholes and maintain the City’s road network, please visit www.nyc.gov/dot and please report any pothole condition to The Daily Pothole or to 311.
